On the 25th of March, one of the largest progressive marches of the entire year so far set forth from Lafayette Park. This was Fridays For the Future, a student-led movement to demand action on climate change. They marched to the US Capitol with chants like "we don't need your money-let the corporations burn!
Fridays for the future is a youth/student movement that began with walking out of/staying out of school on Fridays, reserving the day for climate activism. In Fall of 2019 (prior to the pandemic) they held protests every week in many cities. They are still active today, focussing on fewer but weighted blows.
Some of the speakers at the White House (where the march began) directly blamed fossil fuel extraction for Putin's bloody war on Ukraine, one even invoking the first Iraq War which one of their parents served.
