Former HW Bush staffer Fred Sainz is now the Human Rights Campaign's Vice President for Communications & Marketing. High Heel Race draws huge crowd to 17th st

On the 28th of October, the annual High Heel Race drew a huge crowd to 17th st. This event is normally on the last Tuesday before Halloween. Until a 1991 police attack on the event it was an underground high heel race between some of the gay bars on Halloween itself. This provoked a massive occupation of 17th st by the GLBT community on Halloween 1992, and ever since it has been an officially supported event on the last Tuesday BEFORE Halloween

Fundamentalists still harassing Planned Parenthood

On the 4th of October shortly before noon, fundamentalist Christians were holding some kind of prayer vigil on the lawn of Planned Parenthood in DC. I do not know how they got the right to be on that lawn. Clinic escorts were present to help patients get past the anti-choicers. I asked one of the escorts when would be a good time to get photos with no patients in the way, and was told "right now." As I was doing so one of the right-wing "sidewalk counselers" engaged me with angry rhetoric. One of the escorts said their objective is confrontations with anyone present so as to create a tense atmosphere to deter patients. Years ago I even saw them do this to a full service hospital in Virginia.

Great Zine On Collective Housing Strategies and Tactics

Hey Folks! We have just finished writing a zine on living in an activist collective intentional community. It was written as a practical guide with tools and references to assist in achieving a more sustainable approach to strategies and tactics for reaching goals. We approach this work from the experience in our shared collective narrative in an effort to ground much of the theory in our practice.

A Copwatch patrol discovered US Park Police shining flashlights inside the "Black Forest" woods west of 23ed st NW south of O st NW at approximately 11:20PM on May 18th, 2014. They seemed to be moving slowly, as if they were looking for something on the ground-or like they were in bear country, seeking to avoid startling anything more powerful than them. At about 11:38PM, the cops suddenly ran to their cars and left in a bug hurry, presumably responding to some other call.

Protesters object as Supreme Court permits Hobby lobby to refuse contraceptive coverage

In a 5-4 split decision on the 30th of June, the US Supreme Court once again ruled that corporations are people, this time granting them religious freedom to discriminate against women who use birth control in the notorious Hobby Lobby case.

As the Supreme Court ruled in favor of religious bigotry and corporate personhood, protesters outside showed their disapproval with signs saying things like "my uterus is not on payroll," and "My health care is not your hobby," and "keep your rosaries off my ovaries.
