Homeless Memorial March and vigil remembers 46 who died this year

On the 20th of December, the People for Fairness Coalition marched from Luther Place Church to Freedom Plaza to remember 46 people who died on the street or with a housing voucher they were unable to use. The march included a casket in memory of the fallen.

This July 23rd-24th US political prisoner Leonard Peltier's supporters
will complete a 3,000 mile freedom ride to Washington DC to ask President
Obama to grant Leonard clemency. A rally is planned for the US Capitol
steps. Leonard's health is failing and his continued incarceration serves
no justifiable reason. He is an old man now who paints artwork and wants

Activists protest World Bank loans to Uzbek cotton industry known for forced labor

On the 10th of December, activists projected huge images on the sides of the World Bank's headquarters to protest a half-billion dollar loan to Uzbekistan for their cotton industry. Uzbekistan's cotton producers were called out for using child labor and forced labor. The production of cotton with slave labor was supposedly stopped in 1865 by the Civil War in the US, yet the World Bank is lending US tax dollars for the same thing in Uzbekistan today.
